    Brenda Wallis
    Fitness Director

Brenda began teaching fitness classes in 2005. She is a Certified Mad Dogg Spinning Instructor and has completed YogaFit’s Level 1 & 2, BodyArt Teacher Training, and Exhales’s 40 hour comprehensive Barre Certification. Brenda’s passion for movement started at an early age with gymnastics, dance and swimming and then moved into group sports during her teen years. She loved competing in sports like lacrosse and field hockey and always found a way to incorporate exercise into her day well after her high school years. Brenda and her husband, David, raised their two boys on the island and have been year round residents on the Vineyard for over 30 years. Free time is spent hiking, gardening, traveling and creating delicious, healthy food. She has cultivated lasting friendships with people of all ages through the connection of movement and is grateful to be able to support and encourage people to become a healthier version of themselves. Brenda believes ‘being fit’ has no final destination but is a lifelong journey that takes commitment, compassion and a sense of humor

    Kat LeBlanc

Kat came into yoga for help with stress and pain related to her desk job. That was over 20 years ago and she has been teaching since 2011. Kat loves helping students find the benefits she receives from yoga. She is trained in Hatha and Yin Yoga, Yoga for arthritis, Yoga for Parkinson’s, and Chair Yoga. Kat believes anybody can enjoy the benefits of a yoga practice using modifications and/or props to make the practice their own

    Marquetta Drakes

Marquetta 'washed ashore' in 2017 from NYC after several years of being a summer visitor. As an ardent spinner she was inspired to teach indoor cycle classes to share her love of the ride, rhythm and music with her fellow Vineyarders. Off the bike she's an IT consultant who enjoys trekking through all the outdoor adventures the Vineyard has to offer.

    Sian Williams

Sian has been teaching Yoga for over a decade. She received her 500 hour Teacher Training at Kripalu with Shiva Rea and has studied intensively with Yoga Masters Ana Forrest, Baron Baptiste, Jonny Kest, and Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa.

    Vanessa Martins

Vanessa was born and raised on Martha’s Vineyard and grew up to cherish both the island’s beauty and community. She is happy to be able to offer the community Yoga and Fitness based group and 1-1 instruction, as well as in home aquatic exercise sessions. Vanessa completed her Professional Status Yoga Certification through Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge Massachusetts. She is passionate about continuing to learn. Vanessa’s goal in working with her clients is to assist them in finding a sustainable exercise and movement routine that fosters a healthy sense of self physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually

    Abby Bender

After twenty summers here, Abby Bender moved to the island year-round in late 2016 from Brooklyn, NY where she was the longtime director of a dance and theater center called Triskelion Arts. She is a choreographer and performing artist who produces several new short works and full shows each year. Bender is also the founding director of Built on Stilts, the Vineyard's own community dance festival, now in its 26th season. Though she has no formal training in teaching fitness, she has over 25+ years of aerobicizing and longtime experience as a dancer and movement director. Fitness undoubtedly helps her manage stress and keep her hyperactive nature in check.

    Winonah Harrington

Winonah has practiced yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and pranayama since the early 1990’s. She is poly ethnic with a BA in psychology. She spent her childhood off grid on a mountain in Northern California where she developed a life long love for nature and movement meditations. She first met her Tibetan teacher Chagdud Rinpoche when she was five. At age ten she began practicing meditation and took her first empowerments in the Vajrayana and Dzogchen traditions spending the next decade deeply immersed in Tibetan Buddhism at a local retreat center. In 2021 Winonah completed the 200 hour YTT with School Yoga Institute.

    Brenda Correa

Brenda has been in the fitness field for 40 years. Her love of movement began as a teen when she started dance lessons. She moved to the island in the mid ‘90’s with her husband and daughters and became a personal trainer at Fitness Firm. Alana Morales

Alana has been dedicated to health and wellness for 15 years. While training for a half marathon she realized she needed to strengthen her mindset and establish a breathing pattern, so she turned to yoga. After months of training and time on the mat she felt the benefits of a yoga practice. The breath work and calming effect of yoga provided the focus for her to complete the marathon. That was the moment Alana knew she needed a faithful yoga practice. She received her yoga certification from Pura Veda in Costa Rica. Since then Alana has studied at Kripalu and other schools and studios around the US and the world. Alana loves including all levels in her yoga classes, "Yoga for everybody"! Outside of the yoga studio you will find Alana doing any type of outdoor activities, especially hiking, and in her free time she loves to travel globally.
